PHOTO GALLERY: Longboat Key Kiwanis Club

The Longboat Key Kiwanis Club had a visit from Interim Police Chief Pete Cumming Thursday, June 21 at the Tavern at Longboat Key Club and Resort. In 2007, the late Police Chief Al Hogle invited Cunming to join the Longboat Key Police Department. Cumming hadn't given it much thought, but decided to make the move. 'It was one of the best career decisions I have ever made,' Cumming told the club. He answered the questions, most of which revolved around the continuation of Hogle's plan to install cameras at both ends of Longboat Key. Cumming even said that he would consider joining the Kiwanis Club. The club held its elections installing Jim Burmeister as president and Richard Crawford as vice president beginning Oct. 1. Bob Kromer celebrated his 85 birthday at the meeting.
