Anyone who thought the the Longboat Key Garden Club was a plant-potting group, had the wrong agenda. The group had its annual picnic meeting Tuesday, April 10 at Joan Durante Park pavilion to wrap up the season's accomplishments. The members gave checks to representatives from the organizations they awarded grants, gave awards for the Home and Garden Tour 2012, gave beautification awards and college scholarships. Most of the recipients were present and discussed how the generous funds would help their organization or research. They had a picnic potluck to celebrate following the meeting.
