Professor Mary Williams spoke to the Historical Society and its guests on April 17 at Longboat Key Center for the Arts, a Division of Ringling College of Art and Design. Williams teaches history at the State College of Florida, and when she was getting her Masters in History she did papers on Sarasota County. One focus area was on the hardships and tourism of Sarasota in the 1930s. While there was a depression and Sarasotans were experiencing hardships, at the same time the population was increasing.
