Cyclist killed on Sarasota causeway

Sarasota Police are investigating a crash that killed a cyclist on the Ringling Causeway Saturday night, officials said Monday.

Police said the crash killed a 35-year-old woman, who was riding to the west around 11:30 p.m. on the smaller bridge near the Plymouth Harbor property. An 18-year-old driver was behind the wheel of the vehicle involved and was not hurt.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigating officers.

Westbound lanes of the causeway were closed for more than four hours after the incident.
