Braden River sophomore forward Lindsey Seifert netted her second hat trick of the season, leading the Lady Pirates to a 6-0 victory over Palmetto in a Class 4A-District 10 quarterfinal match Jan. 20.

Thunder hoops host Blazers

The Out-of-Door Academy boys and girls basketball teams hosted Sarasota Christian in regular season action Jan. 24. The Thunder defeated the Blazers 41-32. Brian and Ragone and Jack Cannon led the way for ODA with 13 points each. The Lady Thunder fell to Sarasota Christian 43-40. Mara Falahee scored 26 points, 16 of which came in the fourth quarter, to lead the way for ODA.

More than 50 members of the Palm-Aire Nine Hole Women's Golf Association bundled up and hit the green for the association's Breast Health Day nine-hole tournament Jan. 13. Members enjoyed a luncheon before teeing off to benefit breast health. Following the tournament, participants enjoyed an ice cream social.
