Longboat Library welcomes back volunteers

The volunteers enjoyed a buffet-style lunch and ice-breaker game.

Before the Longboat Key Library volunteers could enjoy their lunch, they had to get to know each other first.

Stuck to each of their backs was the name of an author featured in the library. The 25 volunteers present had to walk around the room and ask each other “yes” and “no” questions in order to figure out what author they had been assigned. The room quickly filled with laughter and chatter as volunteers caught up on their summers and made new friends.

The game was part of the library’s welcome back luncheon on Nov. 17. The volunteers enjoyed a buffet-style lunch at Windward Bay Condominiums.

The library runs on the support of memberships fees and a staff made entirely of volunteers. Volunteers make their own schedules usually work half a day one to three times a month.  The library is always looking for new volunteers.
