Sharpen your strategy skills and tidy your tiles. A new weekend-long mahjong tournament like no other is coming to Longboat Key this month.

The Paradise Center is hosting the special debut competition July 24-25. This charity competition supports the center's free programs over the summer.

Registration is $175 per person for the entire weekend. It includes entry in multiple rounds, as well as dinner, snacks and beverages on Friday and a light breakfast, snacks, lunch and beverages on Saturday. Attendees will also be entered to win door prizes and raffles.

Check-in starts at 2 p.m. Friday, and the competition continues 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Attendees can then enjoy the final celebration and "boozy bingo" at Cedars East Tennis Club. Visit TheParadiseCenter.org or the office at 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive to register.
