Sheriff cites 17 stores for minor alcohol sales

Clerks from 10 Sarasota convenience stores were cited for selling alcohol to minors. Deputies cited two Osprey stores, and five Venice stores as well.

Seventeen local convenience store clerks were cited for selling alcohol to a minor during an undercover operation conducted by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Juvenile Alcohol Task Force during the last week of December 2011.

The following businesses were found to be in violation of selling alcohol to a person under 21 and the clerks were given a misdemeanor Notice to Appear in court:

• Max’s Market - 2616 Stickney Point Road, Sarasota
• Lee’s Food Store - 5604 Swift Road, Sarasota
• 7-11 - 4400 Clark Road, Sarasota
• Citgo - 2201 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota
• Circle K - 1801 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
• Sunoco - 3138 17th Street, Sarasota
• BP (El Camino Bobs) - 3605 N. Lockwood Ridge Rd., Sarasota
• 7-11 - 1721 N. Honore Avenue, Sarasota
• 7-11 - 5891 Fruitville Road, Sarasota
• A to Z Liquor – 66 North Tamiami Trail, Osprey
• Shell – 1166 South Tamiami Trail, Osprey
• Circle K – 1848 South Tamiami Trail, Venice
• 7-11 – 2200 South Tamiami Trail, Venice
• Shell – 4300 South Tamiami Trail, Venice
• Racetrack – 2995 Executive Drive, Venice
• Hess – 350 Commercial Court, Venice
• 7-11 – 1475 East Venice Avenue, Venice

Another 43 businesses were found to be in compliance and were sent a letter to commend owners and employees for helping reduce the sale of alcohol to minors.
