Jan. 1 Lord of the dance 12:20 a.m. -- 1600 block of GMD. Disturbance. Police responded to a report of a man refusing to leave a New Year's Eve party at a restaurant. Upon arrival, police calmed down a man and got him medical attention after he revealed he was punched by at least two men for dancing with someone's else's girlfriend at the party. Said the man: 'You know us Irishmen, when we like to dance, we're gonna dance, and if we want to fight, we're gonna fight.'

Reported Jan. 1 12:33 p.m. -- 3500 block of 65th Avenue Circle East. Petit Theft. The victim reported she placed three gift cards in the mailbox, so they could be sent to her parents in South Carolina. A week later, her family notified her that they hadn't received the gift cards.
