Three injured in Lakewood Ranch crash

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lakewood Ranch and Balmoral Woods boulevards Sunday night.

A Florida Highway Patrol report states a 1997 Ford F150 being driven by 30-year-old Christopher Cucci was traveling northbound in the outside lane of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard when another vehicle pulled out from Balmoral Woods Boulevard and into Cucci's path.

The 2003 BMW driven by Gerald Sonnenblick was paused at a stop sign before it pulled out and struck the left side of Cucci's vehicle, which continued northbound and came to a final rest on the eastern shoulder of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, the report states.

Sonnenblick's vehicle rotated counter clockwise and came to a final rest facing in the southbound direction.
Sonnenblick, 74, sustained serious injuries, and his wife, Arlene Sonnenblick, his passenger, suffered minor injuries. They were transported to Blake Medical Center.

Cucci sustained minor injuries as well, but was not taken to the hospital.
