The “supergirls” theme for the Girls Inc. 2016 Celebration Luncheon could not be complete without some super girls to honor.

On April 1 Girls Inc. of Sarasota County will honor Aimee DeMariano Cogan with the “She Knows Where She’s Going” Award.

“Aimee, as a successful advisor, generous philanthropist, and fabulous mom is clearly strong, smart, and bold,” said Veronica Brady, event co-chair. “What a great role model for girls of all ages.”

Cogan is the managing director, senior Investment Management Consultant, Financial Advisor, and Co-Founder of the Bellwether Group at Morgan Stanley.

“Aimee is a superhero who walks among us showcasing her strength as a wife and mother, her intelligence throughout her incredible career, and her boldness in her undying support of so many philanthropic organizations,” said Susan Jones, event co-chair.

The 28th annual Celebration Luncheon will be chaired by Veronica Brady, Susan Malloy Jones and Sally Schule.

Girls Inc. member Tyesha Brown will also be recognized as the Girl of the Year. Brown, 19, is a senior at Sarasota High School and has been a member at Girls Inc. of Sarasota County for 10 years. She involved in the High School initiative program and is now a part-time employee.

“What we’re looking for in a Girl of the Year is a girl who exemplifies the Girls Inc. values of smart, strong and bold,” said Angie Stringer, Girls Inc. of Sarasota County Executive Director. “I remember when Tyesha was a young girl when I was at Girls Inc. before and now I get to see her receive this honor.”

The luncheon will also honor the late Donna Brace Ogilvie, a Girls Inc. National Distinguished Board Chair and longtime supporter of Girls Inc. of Sarasota County. Ogilvie died Oct. 4 at the age of 105. She established the Donna Brace Ogilvie Endowment Fund and the Girls Inc. of Sarasota County Endowment Fund.
