SEPT. 1

PATIO PROBLEM
2:59 a.m. — 5100 block of GMD
Suspicious Person: A man told police a woman knocked on his resort door very loudly and then passed out in his patio chair. The woman was intoxicated and police escorted her to the right resort door.

 

SEPT. 7

FALSE ALARM
3:15 p.m. — Jewfish Key
Rescue: A concerned citizen reported a person in distress at the Jewfish Key sandbar. Everyone on the sand bar reported they were fine.

BRIDGE BACKUPS
4:34 p.m. — New Pass Bridge
Accident: A pickup truck overturned on New Pass Bridge and police assisted Sarasota police officers because the accident occurred in the city’s jurisdiction. The bridge was closed to all traffic for approximately 45 minutes.

 

SEPT. 8

IDENTITY THEFT
12:53 p.m. — 500 block of Sanctuary Drive
Fraud: A man reported someone keeps having his address changed on an old Chicago bank account. His bank also informed him someone tried to deposit a fake check for $58,000 into his account. He suspects a shredding company that he gave dozens of old paperwork to shred stole his information.

 

SEPT. 9

BUSINESS BREAK-IN
11:12 a.m. — 300 block of GMD
Business Burglary: A resort security manager reported that someone broke into the storage area of a golf pro shop, causing $400 worth of damage to a door and doorframe. Nothing was missing. The scene was processed for fingerprints.

DITCHED DELIVERY
2:54 p.m. — 1900 block of GMD
Civil Disturbance: A man told police the driver of the car he paid to have delivered to Longboat Key was demanding more money before he released the car.  The truck driver told the officer the car delivery cost $800 and not the $600 the car owner already paid. The car owner refused to pay more so the truck driver loaded up the car and took it away. Police advised the dispute is a civil matter.

NEIGHBOR SPAT
5:54 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Disturbance: A woman told police the president of her condominium association assaulted her in her condominium lobby earlier in the day. She said the man screamed at her and grabbed her shoulders. She wanted the incident documented but refused to press charges. The association manager denied touching her and said the issue revolved around her and her dog “breaking the rules.” The parties were advised to stay away from each other.

 

SEPT. 10

MAN IN WHITE
4:28 p.m. — 2600 block of GMD
Suspicious Person: A woman told police she saw a man dressed in all white, wearing a white hat, trying to open the doors of parked cars. Police couldn’t find the man.

 

SEPT. 11

DISAPPEARING DRONE
1:43 p.m. — 3400 block of GMD
Public Service:  A man told police he saw a white drone flying over Gulf of Mexico Drive just five-feet above moving vehicles. The drone disappeared and police couldn’t find it.

DOG DISPUTE
6:31 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway
Animal Rescue: Police responded to a report of a dog locked in a parked car in a grocery store parking lot. A crowd of people was standing around the car. The owner of the dog told police she and her boyfriend left the windows cracked and a bowl of water for the dog while they went in the store for 10 minutes. The dog appeared to be in good health and the couple agreed to leave the island.
