Summer Oak Avenue
Jan. 29

12:04 p.m. — 4600 block of Summer Oak Avenue.
Theft: A woman called the pharmacy to refill her sleeping aid medication only to discover it was filled recently. She believes a construction crew that remodeled her home for four days in December stole several of her pills and refilled the prescription.

University Parkway
Feb. 4
11:36 a.m. — 5400 block of University Parkway.
Theft: A boyfriend blocked a store’s candy aisle while his girlfriend began stuffing as much candy as she could grab into a large blue tote bag. When an employee stopped her, she began throwing the candy by the handful into the parking lot before jumping in a car driven by her boyfriend. Employees recovered $25 worth of candy in the parking lot.

43rd Court East

4:53 p.m. — 4500 block of 43rd Court East.
Domestic Confrontation
Violation: A son entered his mother’s house through the open garage door and confronted her in her living room, violating a temporary injunction stating he is to stay away from his mother.

53rd Avenue East
Feb. 4
3:25 p.m. — 2900 block
of 53rd Avenue East.
Grand Theft: Video surveillance caught a store employee removing $700 in cash over several days.

58th Avenue East
Feb. 4
6:55 p.m. — 3300 block of 58th Avenue East.
Burglary: A man reported that someone broke into his shed by getting through a gap in some chicken wire and stole some unknown items.

35th Court East
Feb. 6
10:43 a.m. — 4700 block of 35th Court East. 
Domestic Disturbance: A boyfriend and girlfriend who broke up recently ran into each other and began fighting about the breakup and who cheated on whom. The ex-boyfriend grabbed the purse he bought for his ex-girlfriend, dumped out its contents and left with the purse. The ex-boyfriend agreed to return the purse after talking with police.

State road 64 east
Feb. 6

11:11 a.m. — 6200 block 
of State Road 64 East. 
Theft: Two men entered a store, grabbed a vacuum from a shelf and then took it to the cashier to return it, receiving $346.13 in cash for an item they never bought.

Kay Road
Feb. 6
9:31 p.m. — 100 block of Kay Road.
Possession of Marijuana: Police pulled over a vehicle for running a stop sign and smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. As the driver provided police with his license and registration, he also gave the officer an unloaded handgun. The officer proceeded to ask for backup. When the officer asked if there were more firearms in the vehicle, a passenger began to open a center console and the officer told everyone to show him their hands and not grab the other unloaded gun. Backup arrived, and the occupants were detained. The driver was issued a citation for failing to stop at a stop sign. The passenger was arrested for possession of marijuana.

47th Avenue East
Feb. 7
10:39 a.m. — 3300 block
of 47th Avenue East.
Battery: A man was placed under arrest for domestic battery for grabbing his girlfriend’s ankles and preventing her from breaking additional property in his home during a fight.

State Road 64 East
Feb. 7
3:12 p.m. — 6200 block of State Road 64 East.
Grand Theft: A man placed $73.62 worth of store items into a bag and tried to exit the store via the garden center without paying for the items. A loss-prevention officer intercepted the suspect before he left the store, and a police officer arrested him and trespassed him from the store.

Sabal Harbour
Feb. 8
10:41 a.m. — 4500 block of Runabout Way.
Criminal Mischief: A man reported he stepped outside to discover a back tire on his car was slashed. Then he discovered his wife’s car also had a slashed tire. Another neighbor reported a slashed tire to police at a nearby house. No one in the neighborhood had any idea who committed the crimes.

River Club
Feb. 9
3:02 p.m. — 10100 block of Cherry Hills Avenue Circle.
Battery: Police observed two men punching each other in the street. Fighting stopped before police got out of the car. Both men told police they were willing participants in a fight that started over a girl. Neither party wished to pursue criminal charges.

River Club Boulevard
Feb. 9
3 p.m. — 6200 block of River Club Boulevard.
Lost Property: A middle-school student told police he lost his cell phone.

Willowbrook
Feb. 9
12:47 p.m. — 7300 block
of Black Walnut Way.
Information: A security officer charged with checking on apartments that construction crews are remodeling found a front door open to a unit and a second-floor window removed with glass on the floor. He also realized a television and game console in the unit was missing. Although the unit is vacant, the officer found a refrigerator full of food. Police checked the unit for fingerprints and notified the owners.

44th Street East
Feb. 10
11:25 a.m. — 5300 block of 44th Street East.
Information Only: A man reported a woman called her explaining she found a note on her windshield indicating that he hit her parked car’s rear bumper. The man told her it must have been a mistake because his car wasn’t near that area and he was in Tampa with his family. The woman became irate, and he wanted to report the incident to police.

Summerfield
Feb. 10
7:13 p.m. — 12000 block
of Clubhouse Drive.
Information Only: Police responded to a wooded area to recover a safe located by a civilian walking through the woods. It looked suspicious because the safe door was open and the safe was dented. Police believe the safe was sitting in the same location for more than five years. It was not placed into evidence because police deemed it was full of insects.
