Rams shoot past Bobcats and Hurricanes 

AJ Caldwell scored 19 points and added five rebounds, three steals, three assists and three blocks to lead the Riverview High boys basketball team to a 79-51 victory versus North Port Dec. 14. 

Brion Whitley added 17 points for the Rams. DJ Bryant scored 14 points and added seven assists. Dominic Caldwell finished with 13 points. 

With the win, Riverview improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the district. 

Riverview followed up its victory with an easy 73-34 district win versus Manatee Dec. 15.

Caldwell finished with 16 points to lead the way for the Rams. Brion Whitley added 13 points and Dominic Caldwell contributed nine points. 

 

Sarasota holds on to top Booker 

Josie LeBlanc scored 14 points as the Sarasota High girls basketball team edged past Booker 41-39 in non-district action Dec. 15. 

Madison Pack added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Sailors. 

Cellexia Foster scored 12 points and had three steals to lead the way for Booker. Diamond Merced added 11 points and four assists. Arie Bass contributed nine points and 10 rebounds. 

With the win, Sarasota improves to 11-2 while Booker falls to 7-5. 

 

Riverview girls cruise to victory 

The Riverview High girls soccer team beat rival Sarasota 4-1 in Class 5A-District 8 action Dec. 15. 

Alexandra Timmer scored a pair of goals to lead the way for the Lady Rams. Natalie Oliver and Jordan Evens each added a goal. Gabrielle Levy and Lauren Noblitt each had an assist. 

 

Thunder falls in non-district contest 

The Out-of-Door Academy boys basketball team had three players finish in double figures, but ultimately came up short, falling to Venice 67-57 in non-district action Dec. 15. 

Amad Brayboy scored 14 points to lead the way for the Thunder. Nate Patrick added 13 points and Kolbie Ward finished with 12 points.
