+ Longboat Key Club gears up for annual Game Day
It’s time to put on your game face because Scrabble enthusiasts, poker players and gin junkies across the Key are all gearing up for this year’s Longboat Key Club Game Day to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Game Day is part of the “Go For the Cure” events, which the Longboat Key Club has hosted for the past 11 years. Last year’s events raised more than $72,000, bringing the total amount of money raised to more than $500,000.

This year’s Game Day takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at the Harbourside Dining Room. The event is open to both Key Club members and non-members and will feature gin, mahjongg, canasta, or whatever games participants would like to play.

The entry fee is $40, and participants are encouraged to bring their own game setup. A 50/50 raffle and silent auction will also take place, and brunch will be available for $20. Sponsorships are available at all levels and can be made in honor of someone who has been affected by breast cancer. Registration is due by Jan. 19.

Contact Bette Hoffman at 383-2562 or Fremajane Wolfson at 383-2275 for more information.

Sports Day takes place Tuesday, Feb. 15 and is open to members of the Longboat Key Club ladies golf or tennis associations. A luncheon in the Harbourside Dining Room will follow play of either nine or 18 holes of golf, along with tennis matches. Sign up at the Harbourside ladies locker room or at the pro shop at the Tennis Gardens.
