It was a celebration of Maye Lavinson’s 90th birthday, but she didn’t expect the Temple Beth Israel members attending April 22 Shabbat services to wish her “Happy Birthday” in song. But that they did. Rabbi Jonathan Katz spoke of her dedication and service to the temple. The Oneg Shabbat was sponsored by Lavinson’s daughter, Dr. Judith Eaton, in Lavinson’s honor.
