The Democrat Club wasn't seeing red at their Valentine's Day meeting. With 2012 Elections right around the corner, Candidate for U.S. Congress Keith Fitzgerald dropped by the Democrat Club Meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The group listened following lunch in the Longboat Key Club and Resort Harborside Dining room as he talked about blue winning the race, especially as far as Congress goes.

The Republican Club of Longboat Key met for its monthly meeting at Sarasota Yacht Club on Friday, Feb. 10. Instead of having one speaker, it was an open candidates forum featuring various campaigns: County Commission of Sarasota, Town Commission of Longboat key, State Attorney, County Sheriff and representatives from the Romney and Paul camps. Those running answered questions from the audience.

Tables of roulette and black jack, were scattered around the Island House Dining Room at Longboat Key Club and Resort and each was full of patrons raking in the chips for the Go for the Cure casino night fundraiser on Wednesday, Feb. 8. Some guests dressed in their finest pink, matching the pink decor for the evening of dinner, dancing and gambling.

The yacht club hosted its annual art opening for its member's exhibit on Feb. 8, proving just how much talent is among its members.

The teams met at AMF Lanes off of Tamiami trail, far from their neck of the woods, and had an afternoon of bowling followed by dinner hosted at Sarasota Yacht Club. It appeared that everyone was having a (bowling) ball.
