Among the paintings, nature photography, colorful jewelry, intricate broaches, eclectic handbags and knit apparel, at the craft fair on Feb. 18 and 19, it's apparent that there's no shortage of craftiness at Bayport Beach and Tennis Club. Resident's put their work on display for all of their neighbors to see. They don't host a craft fair annually, but it isn't the first time one has taken place.

The clubhouse at Grand Bay was packed bumper-to-bumper full of people waiting to bid Adieu to their beloved access guard Mel Wilson on Friday, Feb. 17. As soon as Wilson entered the room, he was flocked to and bombarded by residents giving hugs and kisses. 'We're just really going to miss him,' says Property Manager Bill Lutes. Whoever takes his spot will have some big shoes to fill.

The Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce hosted a thirsty Thursday Happy hour at the Lido Beach Resort Bar on Thursday, Feb. 16. Members and guests could roll up their sleeves, loosen their ties and network in the scenic sunset grille overlooking lido beach. It wasn't too bad for 'work.'

The Lido Key Residents took over the Lido Beach Resort Bar on Thursday, Feb. 16 for a sunset happy hour. The social time was spent laughing with friends, getting to know other members and snacking on mozzarella sticks. And the view wasn't too shabby either! They had a great view of their neighborhood from up on the eighth floor.

All Angels by the sea Episcopal Church hosted its 17th annual fashion show, luncheon and card party to almost 140 people on Feb. 15 at Sarasota Yacht Club. They raffled for prizes like handmade jewelry, gift certificates and a gift basket from Dillards, who supplied the clothing and makeup for the event. The money raised benefits the All Angels Outreach Program, which donates 100% of its money to local charities.

A red rose covered the table settings complete with red napkins, the 42nd street band was decked in black suits with red ties, the lights were dimmed and love was in the air on Valentine's Day at Longboat Key Club and Resort's Harborside Dining Room. But this wasn't just a normal dinner and dance, it was the Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key's Valentine's Day Ball. The fundraiser for the Kiwanis Foundation, which grants scholarships and grants to local students and organizations, rose upward of $18,000. Last year, the money went to 21 area scholarships and gave grants to local organizations: Guardian Ad Litem, Community Haven, Boys and Girls Club (in both counties), Girls Inc., Ation Club and Dance, the Next Generation.
