Animal problem: Police responded to Bayfront Park after receiving a call about an aggressive dog in the dog park. When police arrived, they met with the caller, who said a white dog resembling a Jack Russell was fighting with other dogs. The complainant said he had to personally break up four to five fights. Police then spoke with the owner of the dog, who said his dog does play a bit rough, but had never bitten another dog. The dog owner said the complainant was the one who was aggressive and that he was threatening to hurt or kill his dog. Police watched the dog and did not notice any aggressive behavior. The officer then told the owner of the allegedly aggressive dog that civil suits could be filed if his dog were aggressive, and he closed the case.
10:47 a.m., Bayou Sound
Citizen assist: A homeowner in a gated community called the cops after seeing a car speeding in the neighborhood, and not for the first time. The complainant estimated that a vehicle was traveling on a residential street at what she estimated was 55 miles per hour. The woman took matters into her own hands before calling police, following the vehicle to where it parked. The driver got out of the vehicle and told her to leave the property. When police arrived to speak to the complainant, he told the woman that the police department is limited in enforcing speeding in a gated community, and advised that she reach out to the homeowners association to make a formal request for traffic enforcement. The case was then closed.
4:01 p.m., Gulfside Road
Suspicious person: Suspicious people on Gulfside Road prompted a call to police on a recent Sunday afternoon. The caller said that two men had been flying a drone near an abandoned house, but had not attempted to enter the house. By the time police arrived, the alleged perpetrators had already left in a black electric vehicle, and no license plate or direction of travel was gathered. The case was then closed.
8:47 a.m., Wedge Lane
Suspicious person: A resident who recently moved in got a scare when she saw a man with a headlamp walking around a neighboring property the night before. Police responded and spoke with the neighbor who said the man with a headlamp had wandered around the property for about two hours. Police found a phone number of the property owner, who told police the man was a landscaper who needed to be there during dark to make sure landscaping lights were set up correctly. Police informed the worried neighbor and closed the case.
