Elliott, a 2-year-old black-and-white Sheltie, was the guest of honor at a “Welcome to the Neighborhood” party held March 2, at his new home with Mike and Rosemarie Hodges.
Rescued from a dog pound by a Sheltie rescue group, Elliott arrived on Valentine’s Day.
The Hodgeses’ 15-year-old dog, Jollie, died in December.
Already acquainted with some of the dogs on Dream Island Road, the Hodgeses decided it would be fun to formally introduce Elliott.
Dog guests attending with their owners were Emily, Simba, Sammy, Katie, Honey and Zoey, a Yorkie, who turned out to be the life of the party.
But the highlight of the party for everyone was the play hour in the yard preceding lunch. There was more play time after lunch and likely followed by naps when they returned home.
In dog language, Elliott said, “I really enjoyed meeting my neighbors and I am looking forward to seeing them again. I love my new home and there are so many squirrels to chase. I just wish that all my homeless friends could be so lucky to find such a wonderful forever home.”
