Created by Aaron Gundy, “Leaving on a Jet Plane” features an acoustic trio who take you on a flight to the feel-good era of folk music in the late 1960s and 1970s. Among the singer/songwriters whose works are featured are Simon & Garfunkel, Cat Stevens, Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Lovin’ Spoonful. Runs through July 12.

Lauren Gunderson, one of America’s most produced playwrights, takes on the world of fantasy romance novels with “Lady Disdain,” a rolling world premiere at Asolo Repertory Theatre. Audiobook narrators Beatrice and Benedict are rivals whose witty banter masks sexual chemistry. Runs through June 27.

You may know singer Eartha Kitt as the sultry siren who sang “Santa Baby,” a 1950s holiday ditty that lives forever on the internet. Or maybe you remember her as Catwoman from the 1960s TV series “Batman.” One thing is sure: You’ve never seen the glamorous entertainer backstage as Eartha Mae, a country girl from South Carolina who became a citizen of the world. Jade Wheeler created and stars in this show with spirited piano accompaniment by Catherine Stornetta. Runs through June 21.

The family-friendly movie night runs the second Friday of each month at Waterside Park. “Lilo and Stich (Live Action)” will begin approximately at 8 p.m. and is sponsored by Grace Community Church, which will provide one free snow cone from Kona Ice to the first 325 attendees. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Concessions will be available from We B'Poppin Popcorn and Kettle Corn. Inflatables will be available for the kids beginning at 7 p.m.

The last time Cecile B. DeMille’s circus extravaganza, “The Greatest Show on Earth,” was scheduled to unspool at Classic Movies at the Opera House, a hurricane came to town and the screening was canceled. We’re hoping for better luck this time for the movie about Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus filmed in Sarasota. It stars Charlton Heston and features some locals who are still alive.

The Sarasota Music Festival's final concert, at the Sarasota Opera House, is selling out fast. Conductor Nicholas McGegan leads a program that features flutist Jasmine Choi and violinist Alexander Kerr along with SMF fellows. Also on the bill are Franz Schubert’s “Overture in the Italian Style,” Mozart’s Flute Concerto and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.
