With white sandy beaches leading to the Gulf of Mexico, the Resort at Longboat Key Club is a popular spot on the island.

Now, it’s getting international recognition.

The Resort was recently named the No. 5 Florida resort in Conde Nast Traveler’s 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards.

The rankings include submissions from readers to determine the world’s top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, airlines, airports and cruise lines, a press release from the Longboat Key Club said.

This year, readers voted on a record-breaking 7,320 hotels and resorts.

“It is quite an honor to be recognized by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the top resorts in Florida, given the extensive competition and the sheer number of resorts within the state. We take great pride in our service excellence and this is reflected by the rankings, which are determined by actual travelers and guests. I want to extend congratulations to my entire team for a job well done,” said Jeff Mayers, general manager of the resort.

The resort is home to 223 luxury suites and amenities including 45 holes of golf, tennis gardens, a spa, fitness center, Mind & Motion Studio and the Longboat Key Club Moorings, the largest resort marina on the west coast of Florida, the press release stated.

The resort also ranks as a top 25 marina in North America by Power and Motor Yacht Magazine, a AAA Four-Diamond resort for the 36th consecutive year and was ranked as the sixth-best tennis resort in the world by Tennis Resorts Online in 2017, the statement said.

The resort is part of the Opal Collection, which had 11 resorts recognized in Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
