Longboat Key Fire Association heats up chili cook off

The Longboat Key Fire Rescue Department is heating up. On Oct. 8, the crew took second place in Morton’s Firehouse Chili Cook-Off. Last year, it won third place for its “Red Tide Chili” recipe, and this year, the crew only tweaked that recipe a little bit to bring it the second-place victory. The team came up with the idea by merging some of its favorite chili recipes together, but don’t ask for the “Red Tide Chili” recipe. It’s a secret. Maybe they’ll share the recipe Nov. 18 at the Longboat Key Firefighter Association Golf Classic.
