Longboat Key Education Center 30th Anniversary — Takes place at 6 p.m. at Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe, 1646 10th Way, Sarasota. The event will begin with a dinner catered by Nancy’s BBQ and music from Nate Jacobs and His Soul Crooners, Guests will then enjoy a production of “The Sam Cooke Story.” Open seating is $100 for members; $115 for nonmembers. St. Patrick’s Jazz Concert/Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner — Takes place at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. The jazz concert will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and feature the sounds of Al Hixon, Jim Wellen, Mark Multrup, John Lamb, James Suggs, Herb Bruce and Michelle Amato. Tickets are $15 in advance; $20 at the door. The dinner will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost is $15. To purchase tickets to both events, cost is $30. Call 383-6493.

Rodgers and Hammerstein Musical Lecture — Takes place at 2 p.m. at Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road. Carol Kaufman will speak on the works of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Call 383-3428.

Rudolf Nureyev with Robert de Warren — Takes place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Longboat Key Education Center, 5370 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Suite 212. In this multi-media presentation, Robert de Warren, international ballet director, choreographer and designer, recalls a 25-year collaboration and friendship with Rudolf Nureyev, one of the most celebrated dancers of ballet and modern dance of the 20th century. Life Line Screening Preventive Health — Takes place at All Angels by the Sea, Episcopal Church, 563 Bay Isles Road. Five screenings will be offered that scan for potential health problems related to blocked arteries, aneurysms, hardening of the arteries, atrial fibrillation and bone density.
