VIDEO: Police work to identify Lido theft suspects

Two subjects took surveillance cameras from a Lido Key condo earlier this month — and were caught on camera in the process, the Sarasota Police Department says.

The Sarasota Police Department hopes surveillance video will lead to the identification of two individuals suspected of stealing surveillance cameras earlier this month.

The SPD is seeking assistance from the public as officers work to identify two subjects involved in an Aug. 1 theft on Lido Key.

Two subjects took two surveillance cameras from the Lido Surf and Sand condominium around 11:20 p.m. on that date, the SPD announced in a release today. The condo building is located at 1100 Benjamin Franklin Drive.

The department also released a video of the two subjects reportedly involved in the theft, asking the public to come forward with information regarding the crime.

Anyone with information related to the case can contact Detective Dustin Luciano at 363-5827. The public can also leave anonymous tips with Crime Stoppers by calling 366-8477 or visiting the Crime Stoppers website.

The cameras are valued at approximately $600, the release states.
