Mote Marine Laboratory’s digital learning program, SeaTrek.Tv Interactive won the Pinnacle Award for the 2015 to 2016 school year. It’s the highest award in educational and interactive video conferencing.

The annual award, given by the Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration, is reserved for organizations who receive outstanding scores on program evaluations submitted by educators. StarTek.Tv brings research, animals and exhibits from Mote to classrooms using distance learning technology. These virtual field trips are a way to engage students in STEM topics.

In order to qualify for a Pinnacle Award, the program must receive at least a 2.85 out of 3.0 average on all evaluations during the school year. Since the Pinnacle Awards began in 2007, SeaTrek.Tv has earned seven awards along with two honorable mentions. The evaluation assesses the presenter’s knowledge about the content and assesses the engagement and impact of the program.  It also evaluates whether the advertised age was appropriate as well as ensures that the program met the advertised objectives.
