Just before dismissal Thursday afternoon students at Phillippi Shores Elementary lined the outdoor hallways and courtyard for the annual Kindergarten Parade of Characters.

The cast for the parade was comprised of all the kindergarten classes who were inspired to design costumes around their favorite literary characters. A procession of costumes ranging from minions to princesses made there way around the school clutching the books that feature their chosen characters.

For Charlotte Weisenborn the decision was easy. She dressed as the character from the book series "Fancy Nancy," by Jane O'Connor.

"She's my favorite storybook, I have lots of them," Weisenborn said. "This one is when she is going to a gala with her doll."
