Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today for the town's general municipal election.

This year's ballot features two contested races for the Longboat Key Town Commission: Jack Daly and Larry Grossman are seeking the District 4 seat that Mayor Jim Brown will vacate, and Gene Jaleski is challenging incumbent Commissioner Phill Younger for an at-large seat. All town voters can cast ballots in all commission races, regardless of the geographic district in which they reside.

Manatee County voters must cast ballots at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive, and Sarasota County voters must vote at Longboat Key Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road.

The Manatee and Sarasota supervisor of elections offices must receive absentee ballots by 7 p.m. today.

Check YourObserver after 7 p.m. today for election results.
