Longboat home sells for $3.45 million

A home on Longboat Key sold for $3.45 million yesterday, representing the highest sale price for a single-family residence on the Key this year.

The home at 640 Rountree Drive includes four-bedrooms, a library loft, a bayfront swimming pool and a 60-foot dock. The home, which totals more than 5,100 square feet, also includes more than 200 feet of frontage on Sarasota Bay.

The property, listed and sold by real estate agents with Michael Saunders and Company, is located in the Longboat Key Estates neighborhood. The house last sold for $3.3 million in August 2013.

The sale is another in a string of recent benchmark-setting closing prices on luxury homes in the area. Maureen Horn, who represented the seller, said the sale was indicative of a strong market for such residential properties.

“In experiencing recent benchmark sales, Longboat Key is like every other luxury enclave in Sarasota and Manatee Counties,” Horn said in a release. “Buyers are confident that it’s the right time in the right market.”
