Grant applications for the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program’s 2014 Bay Partner Grants Program are due by 4 p.m. today at SBEP offices, 111 S. Orange Ave., Sarasota. Applications can also be emailed to Sara Kane at [email protected].
Organizations can receive up to $3,000 for projects that benefit Sarasota Bay.
Schools, businesses, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, churches and civic groups in Sarasota and Manatee counties are eligible. The watershed boundaries are from Anna Maria Sound to the Venice Inlet as well as all of the barrier islands.
Past Longboat Key recipients include Beachplace Association Inc., the Windward Bay Condominium Association and Sarasota Bay Watch, which used part of a 2012 grant to fund its Sister Keys cleanup.
Last year’s grant recipients included a peninsula restoration project at Plymouth Harbor; a native landscaping project at Save Our Seabirds; and a bay education project for students investigating fouling organisms and water quality.
