The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Aug. 2
 Red flag

11:58 a.m. — 500 block of Kay Road NE. Abandoned Auto. The vehicle was abandoned on the southbound lane of Kay Road. A deputy red-tagged the vehicle. It was locked and had minimum damage to the front passenger quarter panel and the front driver’s side quarter panel. A towing company towed the vehicle without incident. The registered owner was arrested.

Aug. 7
 Wallet watch

9:46 p.m. — 600 block of 67th Street Circle E. Lost Property. A man inadvertently dropped his wallet outside in the car park of the location. Minutes later, he realized he had dropped his wallet and returned to the car park and could not locate his wallet. He called the sheriff’s office. The immediate area was searched, and deputies asked several other guests if they had seen/found a wallet. It could not be located. The wallet contained the man’s driver’s license and military identification.

Aug. 13
 Fixture-upper

10:01 a.m. — Intersection of Tuttle Avenue and University Parkway. Accident — Property Damage. Two vehicles were heading eastbound on University Parkway, just east of Tuttle Avenue. Vehicle No. 1 was a flatbed truck and was hauling light fixtures. The light fixtures were strapped down by a ratchet strap. The strap broke, and a box of light fixtures flew off the truck and struck the hood of vehicle No. 2. The impact caused a dent and cut a hole in the metal. The driver of vehicle No. 1 was not aware the fixtures had flown off and thought only an empty cardboard box had fallen. Both vehicles stopped at a red light. The driver of vehicle No. 2 recorded the license plate of vehicle No. 1. The deputy used the number to later locate the driver of vehicle No. 1 and issue a citation.

Aug. 15
 Sliding by

2:54 p.m. — 4200 block of Placid Drive. Burglary to Unoccupied Dwelling/Theft. Unknown person(s) entered the home by lifting the rear sliding door off the track. The suspect stole jewelry, electronics and alcohol with a combined estimated value of $9,500. The victim was not at home at the time of the burglary. The suspect(s) fled the scene through another sliding glass door at the rear of the residence.

Land Rover
8:22 p.m. — 7800 block of Troon Court. Petit/Grand Theft. A man reported unknown person(s) stole an item from his yard. The item was not near the roadway, therefore it could not have been considered discarded rubbish.

Aug. 16
 All mixed up

10:26 a.m. — Intersection of Bellefield Way and Seacroft Cove. Petit/Grand Theft. A man reported that unknown person(s) stole a mortar mixer from the location. He said the mixer was with other construction tools on the site. The mortar mixer is valued at $2,500. At this time, there is no video or witness.
