Bob Havel recently celebrated his 90th birthday on Longboat Key with 24 members of his family. Havel’s brother, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came from California, Texas, New Jersey, Indiana, Wisconsin and Florida to wish him a happy birthday. They gathered a week in advance of Havel’s actual birthday, which is Aug. 21.

The family enjoyed birthday dinners at Lazy Lobster of Longboat and the Seafood Shack and spent the day on The Flying Fish private fishing charter.

Havel retired to Longboat Key in 1972 but has vacationed on the island since 1953. He and his wife, Ann, divide their time between Longboat Key and Lake Geneva, Wis.
