The Longboat Key Town Commission meets this morning to discuss the town’s annual budget and tonight to decide whether to give the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort an extension on its timeline to rebuild the resort.

At the commission’s 10 a.m. budget workshop at Town Hall, 501 Bay Isles Road, commissioners will hold a final budget discussion on the 2012-13 fiscal year budget before the budget is reviewed on first reading tonight. Commissioners will also decide whether to fund a license-plate recognition system for the Longboat Key Police Department.

Tonight, at the 7 p.m. regular meeting at Town Hall, commissioners will also:

• Make commission appointments to various committees for the coming fiscal year.
• Make an appointment to the Citizens’ Tax Oversight Committee.
• Adopt millage rates and a final budget for the 2012-13 fiscal year on first reading.
• Review resolutions for annual beach funding and the town’s inlet management plan funding.
