After 29 years on Longboat Key, Gary Winters will close Gary’s Salon April 29. But, he couldn’t say goodbye without one final blowout. Winters will host a “Thank You and Farewell Open House” from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Gary’s Salon, 5610 Gulf of Mexico Drive. The event will feature wine and hors d’oeuvres. But his faithful customers don’t have to worry, because he isn’t cutting them off: After closing his salon, Winters will style hair part-time at Bob’s Styling Salon, 5851 Cortez Road, Bradenton.
