Beach access reopens today

Public Works Department employees opened the gate and put signs back in place, officially reopening the North Shore Road beach access Friday.

The popular North Shore Road beach access was reopened to the public at 9 a.m. Friday, July 1, just in time for the Fourth of July weekend.

A $4.5 million north-end emergency beach project was completed earlier in the week. The project brought approximately 133,000 cubic yards of sand to the area.

Beachgoers will now be able to access Beer Can Island by foot once again.
