The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday night formally adopted a $484.2 million budget for the 2011 fiscal year.
No residents spoke during the public meeting, which ended in about 15 minutes. Commissioner Joe McClash asked to remove a roughly $80,000 position for an organizational development manager from the budget, but his motion was not supported.
The board moved forward, adopted the same countywide tax rate as last year at $6.2993 per $1,000 of assessed property value. Commissioners again did not support a surtax to generate an extra $2 million for the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
The approved budget is about $24 million less than last year.
