Earlier in November, The Longboat Observer’s Energetic Traveler and Grand Bay resident Stuart Scheyer celebrated his 80th birthday when Sarasota Opera singers sang “Happy Birthday” at Grand Bay’s “Grand Opera Day.” But, last week, he got an encore celebration. Over Thanksgiving weekend, 23 of his family members and friends gathered on Longboat Key to celebrate. Among the unique gifts he received was a timeline poster showing Scheyer’s life from birth to the present. His three sons spent two months sorting through photos and memorabilia to create a new family treasure.
