As a team, the Lady Mustangs finished as the district runner-up behind Venice. On the boys side, Sarasota High's Andre Johnson won the No. 1 singles title to lead the Sailors to a second-place finish in the team standings.

Tokajer becomes a police chief

Longboat Key Police Chief Pete Cumming informed Town Manager Dave Bullock Monday, April 1 that Administrative Captain Bill Tokaje has accepted the position of police chief for the city of Holmes Beach. Tokajer will be reporting to his new post on Monday, April 8. Cumming has appointed Officer Frank Rubino to assume Tokajer's responsibilities as administrative captain.
