The Out-of-Door Academy dropped its second-consecutive district game with a 42-21 loss to St. John Neaumann. The Thunder turned the ball over seven times in the loss. ODA quarterback Evan Wilson connected with Austin Hoppe for a touchdown and also ran in for a score. Running back J.T. Fischer scored the Thunder's other touchdown on a 5-yard carry. ODA returns to non-district action Sept. 28 at Evangelical Christian.

Circus Sarasota held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to showcase the completion of the newly renovated administrative offices Wednesday, Sept. 19. The renovations were made possible by a $75,000 grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation. Circus Sarasota acquired the management of the Sailor Circus program last October, and the two are now united in one location.

Jim Tollerton, owner and president of Professional Benefits in Sarasota, received the Clyde Nixon Business Leadership Award, and USF Sarasota-Manatee received the John J. Cox Community Partner of the Year Award. Guests also enjoyed a speech from Dale Brill, president of the Florida Chamber Foundation, who spoke of the changing nature of Florida's economy and what business must do to adapt.
