Between Tampa Bay Watch, Pine Island Sound Scallop Search and our very own Sarasota Bay Watch, the West Coast waters of Florida were covered - with scallop searchers. On Aug. 23, volunteers gathered to collect information about the survival of scallops in our waters.

The Bill Brian Foundation held its first fundraiser, 'A Heroes Luncheon' Monday, Aug. 25, at the Sarasota Yacht Club. The Brian Bill Foundation, named after Chief Petty Officer (SEAL) Brian Robert Bill, is a nonprofit dedicated to helping Navy SEAL families and survivors with a retreat and resource house. Guest speaker Jessica Buchanan, author of 'Impossible Odds,' shared the story of her kidnapping in Somalia and the rescue by SEAL Team Six. 'It's a dream I've had for three years,' says Scott Bill, president of Brian Bills Foundation. 'Today's a new beginning.'
