In his 99 years, he has worked with various agencies of the U.S. government, survived a plane crash and lived all over the world: Genoa, Italy; Stockholm, Sweden; Paris, France; American Embassy, Moscow; Iceland, and Cairo, Egypt.

Shrem gave a presentation 'Bacchus the Rascal, a Bacchanalian History of Wine Seen through 4,000 years of Art,' at the Longboat Key Center for the Arts, a Division of Ringling College of Art and Design.
