Turtle season comes to a close

Sea-turtle season on Longboat Key ends Oct. 31. This year, there have been 267 loggerhead nests and 249 loggerhead false crawls recorded on the Key's beaches.

Sarasota Walk takes strides to raise awareness

Longboat Key resident and Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Foundation founder Nancy Flemming started the Sarasota Walk for pancreatic cancer awareness seven years ago because of a personal experience. Her husband, Harry, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died nine days later.
