Sarasota Yacht Club took bets on horses on May 5, but part of the proceeds went to the Sarasota Yacht Club's Charitable Foundation and will benefit area children. But the Derby wasn't the only competition; the women had a vote for the best hat. It was such a party that, Colonel Sanders decided to skip out on the derby to spend some time at SYC.
