PHOTO GALLERY: Bird Key Yacht Club style show

The Style Show May 24 at Bird Key Yacht Club was just another day at the beach, sans the beach. Men and women danced the runway in Tommy Bahama. It was unhurried, relaxed and everything one could expect from Tommy Bahama's island luxury wear. Monique Bell and Marcia Hupp celebrated birthdays at the style show, and fit the theme with blue beach leis. Tommy Bahama, 300 John Ringling Blvd, is open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday.

PHOTO GALLERY: Bert Spiegel's Birthday

Bert Spiegel does not look 90. He hardly looks 80 with snakeskin boots and long grey rock star hair. Number aside, Windward Bay residents threw him a party May 22 in the clubhouse. It just so happened that Rosalyne Weiner was celebrating a birthday, too. And Spiegel insisted on sharing his day with all of the May birthdays. Birthday songs were sung, candles were blown, wishes were made and plenty of cake was eaten. Happy Birthday, Mr. Spiegel.
