Twice-weekly trash collection seen as wasteful

Starting in September, the city of Sarasota will change its garbage-collection schedule to once-per-week. The move will save the city $700,000 and save residents $36 per year.

A man reported watching occupants on a 28-foot boat called the 'Scrappy T' run into a wooden dock on the other side of the canal. The accident caused extensive damage to the dock and an underground piling.
