11:06 a.m. — 6800 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Larceny. A woman reported that she believes a former employee stole between $7,000 and $8,000 from her restaurant over the course of several months.
Aug. 9
Parking problem
11:39 a.m. — 5700 block of GMD. Suspicious Vehicle. A maintenance employee for a condominium reported a suspicious sport utility vehicle and a U-haul trailer that were left unattended in the parking lot overnight. Police advised the employee that the car and trailer could be towed if they did not belong to any residents.
Mobile thief
12:35 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Larceny. A woman reported that someone stole her cell phone and its case while she was swimming in the Gulf of Mexico. Nearby hotel guests on the beach didn’t notice anyone near her beach chair.
Aug. 10
Men overboard
1:50 p.m. — 5100 block of GMD. Rescue. Police stood by as the town’s fire-rescue boat retrieved two people from the Gulf of Mexico who had fallen off a small sailboat.
Untidy trespassers
4:15 p.m. — 6900 block of GMD. Trespassing. A Key resident reported that people keep trespassing on his beachfront property. After leaving the beach, he said they wash the sand off them, litter and urinate on the property. The unit owner agreed to shut off external water sources on the property.
Playing musical cars
8 p.m. — 2300 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman called police to report that she had received a strange phone call, during which she heard music coming from the other end. At the same time, the woman saw a green car pull into a no-parking area and saw a girl exit the vehicle. The woman thought the two incidents might be related.

Transportation authority
2:05 p.m. — 1000 block of GMD. Suspicious Person. Police saw a homeless man riding a rusty pink women’s beach cruiser on the sidewalk. Police stopped the man and offered to assist him, but he refused help and said he was quite comfortable with his mode of transportation.

After hours
12:58 a.m. — 100 block of Broadway. Code Enforcement. Two couples were warned about being on the beach after it had closed.
All locked up
11:06 a.m. — 6700 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. A woman told police she changed her mind after signing a contract and paying $1,096.40 for some new locks for her house. Police told the woman she had already agreed to the contract when she signed it and paid for the work. The locksmith told police he would try to rectify the problem.
No beach fires allowed
10:30 p.m. — 5800 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. A woman called police to report a fire on the beach. A man was warned the town prohibits bonfires on the beach.

Can the cans
1:30 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. Two men were issued written warnings for drinking beer on Beer Can Island.
Aug. 15
Dog days of summer
12:31 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. Police told a woman and a man they had to take their dogs off Beer Can Island and place them back on their boats.
Drinking violations
1:48 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. A man was issued a written warning for drinking alcohol on Beer Can Island.
2:45 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. A man poured his beer out after he was told he can’t drink it on Beer Can Island.
2:47 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road. Code Enforcement. A woman was warned she couldn’t consume alcohol on Beer Can Island.

Bad delivery
11:26 p.m. — 5800 block of GMD. Driving Under the Influence. A Bradenton man was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia after he mowed down some mailboxes on the east side of Gulf of Mexico Drive.
