May 29 A little off the top 8:49 a.m. -- 500 block of Ranger Lane. Property Damage. A man told police he wished to make a formal complaint after realizing that his neighbor's gardener trimmed a bush 6 inches past the property line. Police reprimanded the gardener, who told police he was not licensed to perform trimming skills. The neighbor was exasperated by the situation, telling police it wasn't "a big deal."

May 24 King of the urban jungle 5:30 p.m. - 600 block of Central Avenue. Theft. A furniture-store owner told police that someone stole two cast-iron lion's heads that were mounted to the front of his building. The heads were attached to metal brackets with silicone adhesive, and the brackets were mounted to the building. The lion's heads are valued at $1,500 each.

May 24 Extended stay 9:51 a.m. -- 700 block of Tarawitt Drive. Parking Violation. Police observed a 40-foot Bluebird Presidential motor home parked in a front yard. A business card was left on the windshield that advised the owner that an ordinance exists that prohibits motor-home parking for an extended period of time.

The victim reported that his Xbox 360 and five video games were stolen. He suspected his friend was responsible. When he went to the suspect's home, he recovered the items from the residence. While inside, he saw other items he believed were stolen.

May 17 Real Christmas-tree car scent 1:56 a.m. -- 600 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. Police pulled over a woman leaving the Chart House parking lot late at night. It was discovered the woman was a receptionist for a real-estate agency and was working late. Police, however, found it odd that the woman had a dead Christmas tree lying in the back of her car. She said it was too heavy for her to carry.

An unknown suspect reportedly pulled the vehicle up to the north entrance gate while the wooden gate arm was down. An unknown white male suspect exited the passenger side and pushed the gate arm forward, breaking it. The suspects fled the vehicle southbound inside GreyHawk Landing.

May 7 Weapon watch 5:43 p.m. -- Off the Key. Assist Other Agency. Sarasota police advised Longboat officers to be on the lookout for a 50-year-old man with brown hair and a mustache walking northbound with a gun in his hand. The man could not be located.
