Gate guard takes bathroom break, drama results

4:35 a.m., 600 Bay Isles Parkway

Disturbance: A security guard took a bathroom break early Thursday morning and returned to the scene of a worker attempting to bypass the gate. Back on the clock, the security guard approached the man in the truck and an argument ensued, resulting in a call to police. When the officer arrived, he spoke with the gate-jumper, who said he had an important meeting and grew impatient while waiting at the unmanned gate. He said he waited several minutes and he and his coworkers were being issued new access cards. The security guard was later interviewed and said he was not aware club employees were waiting on new access cards. Police wrote up a report and closed the case as no charges were pressed by either side.

Kind of a big deal

8:28 a.m., 5460 Gulf of Mexico Drive

Citizen assist: A woman with allegedly impressive accolades walked into the police department to file a complaint. The woman was there to file a report about a dispute regarding a trust, according to the report. She told the officer she had gotten rid of her portion of a trust, but some of her items were left in the residence that was part of the trust. She said she was working with a lawyer to retrieve the items left behind and wanted to file a report to document the incident. She also made it a point to state she had been awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor by President Donald J. Trump and two degrees, one from the University of Missouri and another from the University of Princeton. The officer wrote in the report that it was “unknown the validity of the items reported.” The report was filed and the case was closed.
