What do Maui, Honolulu, Laguna Beach, Malibu and every other beach in the United States have in common? They are all ranked behind Siesta Beach as the best in America, according to the most recent rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

In its “Best Beaches in the U.S. for 2026,” the publication lists the powdery sand and crystal-clear waters along the coast of Siesta Key as No. 1.

“Siesta Key’s soft, pristine sand and relaxed island atmosphere make it a top choice for a beach vacation,” said U.S. News & World Report Senior Travel Editor Elizabeth Von Tersch in a news release. “Plus, all types of visitors can find a beach experience that suits their needs, from the volleyball courts at amenity-packed Siesta Beach to the peaceful sunsets at Crescent Beach.”

In its recently released report, the publication writes:

“Siesta Key is a respite from the hurried world. This beach town is the perfect place to slow down and relax, to take your time to unwind and soak up the Florida sunshine. Best known for its dazzling white, powder soft sand beaches that are consistently ranked among the best in the U.S., and indeed the world, Siesta Key is a must-visit for beachgoers. Aside from the long stretch of wide beaches, Siesta Key enjoys myriad dining options and plenty of outdoor activities, and is within close proximity to all of the arts and culture for which nearby Sarasota is known.”

Siesta is joined in the list by its nearby neighbor to the north, Anna Maria Island, which is ranked third behind Maui, Hawaii, and is among six Florida locations ranked in the top 15, which includes, in order:

  1. Siesta Beach
  2. Maui, Hawaii
  3. Anna Maria Island
  4. Honolulu, Hawaii
  5. Kauai, Hawaii
  6. Sanibel Island
  7. Gulf Shores, Alabama

  11. Outer Banks, North Carolina
  12. Laguna Beach, California
  13. Pfeiffer Beach, California

“We are thrilled to see Siesta Key recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the No. 1 Best Beach in the U.S.,” said Visit Sarasota County President and CEO Erin Duggan in the news release. “This honor is a meaningful reflection of the extraordinary beach experience visitors find here in Sarasota County.”
