"Swing" will be unveiled July 30 at Payne Park Tennis Center, 2050 Adams Lane. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m.
The sculpture, created by Michael DiCarlo, brings a contemporary focal point to the courtyard, “echoing the rhythm, movement and lively spirit of play that defines the park,” according to a news release.
The 8‑foot-tall, stainless steel sculpture is distinguished by its upward flow, offering viewers shifting perspectives as they move around it. Its design draws inspiration from motion, balance and Sarasota’s recreational culture, the release said.
DiCarlo, a Brooklyn, New York-based artist and designer rooted in architecture, has worked for nearly a decade internationally as a designer, fabricator, consultant and educator, collaborating with artists, architects and designers on projects ranging from small‑scale objects to large public installations.
